BlackBox GPS encourages “going green” initiative
December 14, 2009 - The owners of BlackBox GPS are committed to implementing 'green' initiatives and recognize that our GPS fleet monitoring solutions products offered to the RTO industry help our customers implement environmentally sustainable practices too.
Blackbox GPS offers fleet monitoring solutions to small to mid-size companies across the country. The Blackbox FleetManager makes it easy for owners and managers to plan efficient routes, decrease fuel consumption as well as costs, and monitor speeding and idling. These factors directly contribute to the minimization of CO2 thus reducing the Carbon footprint of fleets.
According to the EPA, Carbon dioxide emissions are directly proportional to fuel economy--each 1% decrease in fuel consumption results in a corresponding 1% decrease in carbon dioxide emissions. Blackbox GPS provides manager’s with the tools necessary to monitor speeding and idling of their fleet, which are two main contributors of excess fuel consumption.
The Department of Energy states "Fleet vehicles assume the national average of 25.2 mpg and the emissions factor of 19.564 lbs CO2 per gallon of gasoline consumed." Our goal at BlackBox GPS is to provide a Fleet Monitoring solution which not only helps RTO companies save time and money, but also has a positive impact on our environment.
To further the cause, in 2009, BlackBox began offering the RoutePlanner feature to members. The use of RoutePlanner to deliver optimized routes is directly linked to mileage decrease, and a reduction in total driving time.
Robin Standlee, CEO at Blackbox GPS, says "We recognize that with each seemingly small step each business leader takes toward environmental sustainability, together we are making a significant positive impact for this and future generations. In the not-so-distant past, implementing green practices usually meant a higher cost. Conversely, the high return on investment with our BlackBox GPS system makes the decision to implement it easy."
